German term

handfest

German to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering Adhesives and sealants
This is a sealant/adhesive that provides a permanently elastic finish for construction/industrial applications. No more context I'm afraid. It is described as "nach ca. 1 Stunde handfest", which I take to mean it is hardened enough to touch/for further processing after an hour. Is there a pithy way of saying this? It is a catalogue entry so there is limited space... Thanks!

Considering the previous reference I have never heard of any one term in English that describes this specific quality.

Here is a reference http://www.krueckemeyer.de/sites/lexikon/handfestigkeit.htm
Eine Klebeverbindung ist handfest, wenn eine Kraft von 0,1 N pro mm² Klebeflöche als Scherbeanspruchung wirken muß um die Verbindung zu trennen.

Handvast na 2 uur, de verbinding is nu voldoende sterk voor vervoer of lichte belasting. Maximale eindsterkte na ca. 4 uur.

Tack dry means that you can touch it without it sticking to your finger, but I'm not sure exactly what 'handfest' means.

One dictionary translates the term as " solid"

congealed

This may work, as it infers a process from liquid to solid.

That's 'tack dry' of course without the 'x' (my little finger itched).

"adhesive is touch dry"

Allow the adhesive to flash off until it has a uniform, yellowish to transparent color (approx. 30-60 minutes). Then test with a finger to make sure the adhesive is touch-dry (no adhesive sticks to the finger) before you continue work.
