do not translate (lifeworld orientation)

In an American journal: https://suche.gmx.net/web?origin=serp_sf_atf&q=Hans Thiersch...
Many readers may have first encountered Thiersch with his work in the area of Lebensweltorientierung (lifeworld orientation), which has been influential in both theoretical and practice domains in Germany and elsewhere.
Peer comment(s):

neutral Erzsébet Czopyk : Why do not translate a term which is accepted? This is a term in social care theory.

Because it is not exclusively so, Erzsébet. Also, the term is very specific. compare it, perhaps with Jungendstil - art deco is an accepted translation, but Jugendstil commonly used in English. Eventually, this term will also be.
agree Susan Welsh : The advantage of this is that "lifeworld" is such a strange word in English. Choice depends upon the sophistication of the anticipated audience.

Exactly, Susan. also, there actually is more than one translation. I came across oriented towards life conditions' at an American University.

Peer comment(s):

neutral Ramey Rieger (X) : Hi Erzsébet! I agree with your suggestion, but have trouble with a CL5//CL (confidence level) means there is really no other translation and you're absolutely sure. There are ALWAYS other translations. Do you see what I mean?

Thank you very much!
agree Susan Welsh : But I agree with Ramey. CL = confidence level.

Thank you very much!
agree philgoddard : I agree with Ramey that it may be appropriate to leave it in German with a translation, though I would have thought even someone who knew no German might understand it. I don't think she should have posted a separate answer.

Focus on social settings

We may be stuck with "lifeworld" even though it sounds like bad English to the uninitiated... This one, on the other hand, sounds a bit simplistic, but hey, let's just consider it a working translation.. I also thought of "social context orientation" but that seems to be a set term for another concept in psychology.
