Whatever way you look at it
I know this sounds controversial and I'm making it drier by taking the sauce of it (apologies for the pun!) but I sort of feel that it sounds better if it's the reader or writer who becomes the active player ('...look at it' in my answer), rather than assorted third parties (who are providing interpretations) - because it's the reader or writer who has to (1) analyze what the implications of this guy's statement are, and (2) reach the conclusion (or disagree with it) mentioned at the very end
