Baja por Agotamiento de IT

Spanish to English Bus/Financial Finance (general)
I understand this to mean something like "leave for exhaustion of temporary disability", but I'm not sure if that even makes sense in English.

Also for future reference. I try to avoid hassles with abbreviations by stipulating this as one of my working conditions: "6) No se puede garantizar la traducción de abreviaciones y/o acrónimos que no hayan sido definidos en el texto original, excepto los más comunes." I also mention in e-mail contacts with clients that whoever uses acronyms and similar shorthand has to supply the key.

Thanks for the extra suggestions - I see no-one suggested anything for FD - in the end that one beat me too and I sent the trans with a note attached. Ah well.

Anyway, thanks once again and I hope you all have a very merry Christmas, without too many end of year/end of budget rush jobs to spoil your fun! xx

Baja could be deregistration from social security, but I think it's termination of employment (on a fixed-term contract) due to expiry of the maximum period of 18 months of temporary disability (I'm sure IT is incapacidad temporal), the idea being that if the term of the contract expires while the employee is on IT, then the termination of employment is delayed until IT comes to an end. Honestly... Neil, if you saw this doc you'd cry. Really. There's hardly a word that is not abbreviated. In this case I really think it's incapacidad temporal (they talk about bajas etc.) but I just don't get it.

WHat about "Indef. TC Desem. Muj. tras 5 a. Inact."and "FD desem." and "R. Activa 1er Aut.".

If you or anyone else can help out I'll post them as questions... but I'm not that hopeful, no-one wants to clarify things and the deadline is looming. :o(

Those darned acronyms The main issue as I see it is determining what the IT stands for. I usually ask the perps if poss. Agotamiento can mean the expiry of a court sentence (agotamiento de la pena temporal) or similar (perhaps probationary) period, as well as "burn-out" or karoshi. So, as I see it, whoever used the thing needs to clear up what they intended it to mean.
