This is actually from director's notes by a Uruguayan filmmaker. I suspect it means "liquidate assets", but wanted to make sure since it is--for me--a strange phrase

and sell their farms (vender sus campos). They ran businesses (explotaciones) on the farms, and they got rid of both the businesses and the land they were on.
