Italian term

puntalino

Italian to English Tech/Engineering Aerospace / Aviation / Space Aircraft engine test report
Here's the problem:

Puntalini aste
Le aste non risultano essere deformate e i puntalini non usurati.

According to the database, a "puntalino" is a push rod. If that's the case, what are the "aste"?

Need a translation for "puntalino" in context.

Thanks.

Discussion

תודה I did in fact find that, but thought it only applied to brushes.
cilantro May 11, 2016:
ferrule According to all the references outside of Proz, puntalino is a ferrule. More generally it seems to refer to the tip of a rod, or the means by which the rod is attached to the driving mechanism.

tappets

Perhaps they are using puntalini for punterie.
Many older engine had pushrods and tappets.
If this is the case puntalini/punterie is tappets and aste will be pushrods imo.

This would also match the phrase Le aste non risultano essere deformate e i puntalini non usurati, as one of the things you'd be checking in an engine rebuild would be if the pushrods were bent and the tappets were worn.
