It cannot Appropriate translations for the Russian "iz pervykh ruk" here would be direct/directly as Katerina suggested, or "(directly) from the source". It has nothing to do with "first-hand" regardless of what your dictionary says. The devil, as always, is in established usage. Thus, first-hand experience is good. "First-hand product"--what the heck is that? Why it is so, I have no idea. It just is.
