neutral Sofia Gutkin : An organisation can hold a conference or a dinner. A person can't hold lectures, that's incorrect English.

Have you ever come across a native speaker finding fault with "hold" ? what you say may hold true for the use some decades ago, but reading respective authentic UK texts I notice that "holding lectures" is increasingly being used.
