Spanish term

Centinelización

Non-PRO Spanish to English Science Livestock / Animal Husbandry

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

PRO (1): franglish

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

sentinelization

The FAO uses the same term in English:

""Sentinelization" phase
At the beginning of the "sentinelization" period, ASF-free farms were identified. Sentinel pigs were identified, tested, purchased and deployed.
For this exercise, 200 pigs were purchased, deployed in 20 groups (ten pigs per group) in locations that had previously experienced ASF outbreaks. After a period of six weeks, serum was collected and tested using an ELISA ASF antibody test. All the pigs purchased were still alive at the end of the sentinelization phase."

And the US Agency for International Development (USAID) uses it here:

"Sentinel program. The primary objective of the sentinel program is to verify the eradication of the ASF virus in Haiti, through searching for any outbreaks of the disease among a population of certified disease-free pigs posted at various locations throughout the country [...]
The sentinelization scheme is based upon a few basic requirements. In the first place, sentinel pigs will be introduced into the country only after all other pigs are thought to be eradicated. [...]
After the second uneventful 45-day sentinelization period, the area is declared free of ASF. [...]
I won't quote more, but there are a number of other examples of "sentinelization" in this document.
