Red Light, Green Light

English to Spanish Other Education / Pedagogy children\'s game
This is a game where "It" says "Green light" and all the children can run toward him until he hollers "Red light!" They must stop immediately. Anyone caught moving after "red light" has to go back to the beginning. The first one to get to "It" wins and gets to be "It" for the next round.

Is there a game like this in Spanish, and if so, what is it called? Target audience is Spanish speakers in the U.S. (mostly from Mexico, but we have them from Spain and other places, too).

@ Charles. Muy bueno. Me ha recordado mi infancia en Cataluña, cuando jugábamos a "Un, dos, tres ¡pica paret!". Y ya puestos, el chistecito del andaluz que le pregunta a un catalán: -- ¿Como se dise "edifisio" en catalán? --Edifici. --No, si ya lo sé que eh difisi, ¡por eso te lo pregunto!

Yes! Un, dos, tres, pollito inglés... I remember that game when I was at school long time ago in Venezuela, but I don't know if it's still a popular one.

In Spain this game, or one very like it, is called un, dos, tres, pollito inglés. At least, that was what my kids called it at school in Valencia, but according to Wikipedia there are different versions of the name (escondite inglés, chocolate inglés, and a number of others).

Clásico juego infantil, provengo de la Cd. de México, donde era muy popular entre todos nosotros.

El niño al frente daba la espalda a los demás que iniciaban en una raya a cierta distancia, contaba y al decir ¡calabaza! se volteaba y a quien veía moverse lo regresaba a la raya de inicio.

El juego preferido de los niños y lo positivo es que los ayuda a tener auto control y paciencia. Una de las razones por las que los niños (2-3 años) lloriquean es porque quieren llamar la atencion en ese instante, ahora, ya. Este juego puede ayudar a tu niño a desarrollar la paciencia, y aprender a esperar turnos. Con la practica les ayuda tambien a comprender que no siempre pueden obtener lo que quieren cuando ellos quieren.
