Discussion

Heike Holthaus (asker) May 22, 2017:
@all Thank you for your input. I already had to delivery and send this as a query for the client.

I'll post an update as soon as I receive the answer.
philgoddard May 22, 2017:
Could Potiersatzbetrieb be a translation of "APEmerg mode"? "Emerg" looks like "emergency", and P could be potentiometer. Maybe the potentiometer has failed.
Richard Stephen May 22, 2017:
'Ersatz' also means 'substitute' as in 'Ersatzlehrer(in)' = substitute teacher.
So maybe this is a circuit which acts as a substitute for a potentiometer?
philgoddard May 22, 2017:
Potentiometer replacement/bypass mode?
Heike Holthaus (asker) May 22, 2017:
@Phil Perhaps I should have stated my question clearer:
I know that poti = potentiometer, it is the "Ersatzbetrieb" I am having trouble with in this context. I kept looking for Poti/Potentiometer + Ersatzbetrieb.
philgoddard May 22, 2017:
If you can't find a German compound noun in the dictionary, you should always look up its constituent elements. If you Google Potiersatz, you quickly find that it's Poti-Ersatz, and Poti means potentiometer. I don't know how you say this in English.
