David Lin Jul 11, 2017: 互惠基金台湾社会也用 “共同” 基金，但是 “互惠基金” 这个词在香港这个国际金融中心没有用上半个世纪，也广泛用了很长一段时间了吧。商业社会注重互惠互利，就算互助合作，也多数建基于 “互惠互利” mutually beneficial 的商业基础上，也是很自然的事。所以个人觉得互惠在商业语境方面，比较贴切。

mutual fund 的译文为“共同基金”。但是这里可能是指一种保险公司，主要做人寿保险业务。其一，mutual fund 通常不叫作organisation；其二，mutual funds 也是股东所拥有的；其三，mutual fund 的持有人不叫member。

寿险公司习惯上把它的客户称为“会员”。

目前译名有互助/互惠/相互，但都不太理想，也许只能先跟着wiki 的译文走。

同意david 提出的“互惠”一词，美国的此类机构的名称基本都是用的“互惠”，取其“互惠互利”之意。 “互助”不恰当，因为这听起来好像会员之间可以“相互提供帮助”，而这在一个金融服务机构中是不可能的，客户信息都是保密的，他们之间不可能认识，怎么能“互助”？

因为此，“互惠性金融机构” 才是最恰当的译文。
