German term

Überliefungsverlusten

German to English Other History Property Market, Late Middle Ages, Vienna

Discussion

Björn Vrooman Sep 22, 2017:
@Kaportnoy "Überlieferung" is "pass on (to the next generation)."
In this case, I believe it's about property documents lost in the course of the centuries (or history). This part of the register could simply not be recovered because of some flood, fire, etc.

Thanks everyone. That makes sense. Do you think it would be better to say "gaps in property registers"? When I first read "gaps in property records" it made me think there was a gap in the entry itself. But perhaps that is just me and others wouldn't think that?

That might work. Slightly different angle but should still get the same basic idea across...

agree philgoddard : Yes, I think Überlieferung means survival or preservation.
