Sorry, Spyro, I deleted my entry regarding "succeed to the rights of", by mistake. Since it appears from your Internet reference that "succeed to the rights of" is used quite frequently, by all means use it if you prefer it.

"Succeed to the rights of" (in this context) doesn't sound very English to me, but if you have found Internet confirmations of its suitability, I suppose you could use it.

Thank you, and, "Yes", I agree with you. If I had taken more time to consider the alternatives before answering, I probably would have written "assume ..." first and foremost.
