Spanish term

Determinarse in weird context

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Petroleum Eng/Sci
OK, normally determinarse is be determined, but in this context it doesn't make sense. Can it also mean fixed or corrected in some contexts? This is talking about emergency operating conditions of an oil terminal.

En caso que los parámetros de control de proceso se encuentren fuera de sus límites seguros de Operación, éstos deben determinarse hasta llevar a la instalación a una condición segura;

Discussion

Andy Watkinson Aug 25, 2018:
Strictly speaking (though there's no accounting for sloppy writers), if the antecedent were "parámetros" they would have used "aquéllos" (and yes, the RAE says the accent is no longer necessary, but what do they know?)
Robert Carter Aug 25, 2018:
Yes, I think you must be right, Lorena, "estos" is referring to the "límites". I was assuming it meant "parámetros".

hmmmm They are talking about parameters, so aren't they saying that these unsafe parameters must be determined so they can bring back the premises to a safe condition?
