English term

nominate race

Non-PRO English to Spanish Science Biology (-tech,-chem,micro-) Taxonomía
"The nominate race is extinct; the sub-species talautensis survives".

Está hablando de la extinción de algunas especies de loros (en concreto de la Eos histrio). Entiendo que hay un grado en la taxonomía de esta especie que se ha extinguido, de la cual sobrevive una subespecie, pero no consigo dar con el término correcto en español.

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Efectivamente, y tal como sugerido por Cristóbal, parece referirse aquí, específicamente, a la subespecie nominal Eos histrio histrio.

The nominate race "Eos histrio histrio" is currently listed as extinct. Please refer to below info (Please note that the below refers to the NOMINATE form only: subspecies and hybrids are still in existence.)

"Eos histrio histrio (Sangir Archipelago, Indonesia, c. 1997) The nominate subspecies of the Red and Blue Lory was hybridized out of existence by escaped trade individuals of the subspecies talautensis, the last purebred individuals disappearing in the 1990s or even much earlier. "

Sub-species:
- Challanger's Lories (Eos histrio challengeri) -Distribution:Nenusa Islands
- Talaud Red and Blue Lories (Eos histrio talautensis) - Distribution: Talaud Islands - a group of islands located north of Sulawesi island in Indonesia. The Talaud Islands are also the northernmost region of Indonesia, bordering the Philippines

subespecie nominal
