Italian term

tette

May offend Italian to English Art/Literary Poetry & Literature Popular culture
This is from a novel, where the author is lamenting the state our planet is in (climate change, pollution etc.).

"La generazione che avrebbe avuto tutti i mezzi per poter finalmente redimere il genere umano dalle sue secolari follie ed invece ha miserabilmente capitolato davanti ad una tormenta di tette, polli fritti e sneakers firmate."

My first thought was "big-breasted women", however I think it's a more general reference to our overall fixation with outward appearance, using apps to touch up our selfies before we post them on Instagram, the fact that sex is used to sell everything, knowing how to pose the right way on Instagram to get the highest number of followers...

So obviously I know the meaning of "tette", however I need a neat way to express what I think is a wider concept.

TIA!

Discussion

Fiona Grace Peterson (asker) Oct 25, 2018:
Sorry for not closing the question earlier I was waiting for a reply from the client, and as I suspected, the context warranted a wider interpretation of the term than "boobs", which I would not have chosen. He is probably going to go for "hot bodies." Thanks to everyone for your input.
Mario Calvagna Oct 10, 2018:
I think Cedric is perfectly right, simply literal translation, tits or boobs. Certainly I would not put "big-breasted women", too complicated.
Cedric Randolph Oct 10, 2018:
Hi Fiona, Yes. You are overthinking it. The phrase does indeed mean that in its simplicity 'tits, fried chicken and designer sneakers'. No need for embellishment or understating the obvious. Just look at the news with folks like Kardashian et. al......
Fiona Grace Peterson (asker) Oct 10, 2018:
I hear you... But I'm not sure he's just referring to "tette" - I think it needs a wider interpretation. See my explanation above. Or am I overthinking this?
