Spanish term

trampolines

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering Ecuador
Regarding dam construction...

Los sedimentos que pasaran por los trampolines de los desagues de fondo causaran un desgaste muy significativo que incidira en altos costos de mantenimiento.

What might we call the part of the dam referred to by "trampolines" in English?

Thanks very much to both answerers for putting me on the right track. I ended up using "hydraulic jump" since it appears to be the specific type of energy disperser referred to.

ski jump, or hydraulic jump

The water comes down the slope of the spillway and as the water enters the stilling basing it is forced upward. The shape of the the path of the water resembles a ski jump, thus its name.

agree Lydianette Soza : I fully agree with you. Diccionario para ingenieros Trampolín m (cn) springboard; (hyd) energy disperser. Figure in page 49 https://www.cedd.gov.hk/eng/publications/geo_reports/doc/er2...

neutral bigedsenior : you are using a generic term, yet the question is about a specific term. Lydianette's ref is about landslide, not dams, nowhere is 'trampoline' to be found. As a side note, I used Robb for years and it is full of errors and omissions.

Lynette? Am I missing something? I did post a reference from another source, though.
