Parece referirse a centros no educativos donde por circunstancias especiales se imparte educación a los niños allí ingresados (centros de día, hospitales, centros residenciales u otros equivalentes). Conozco servicios equivalentes en España denominados escuelas hospitalarias y domiciliarias, que imparten programas educativos a niños ingresados en dependencias sanitarias u otros centros especiales, incluidos niños con necesidades educativas especiales, como parece ser el caso de las facility schools.
