A lessee is also a possibility, it\'s synonymous with \'tenant\', a little more official :-)

tenant; lodger

Peer comment(s):

neutral Emily Justice : A lodger is someone who rents say just one room in someone's house. The owner of the house continues to live there themselves. It is a way for the owner to get a little bit of extra money, without having to rent out their whole house.

sounds like "квартирант" in Russian. Thank you very much for the explanation!

Definition of Lessee as per Black's Law Dictionary:

Lessee is one who has a possessory interest in real or personal Property under a lease; TENANT.

Definition of Tenant (same source):

One who holds or possesses lands or tenements by any kind of right or title.

Not much difference, but Tenant is used more widely in your context -

Tenant in chief
Prime Tenant
etc.

Lessee.
