I know "pager" means "ポケット・ベル" but suspect that the "paging device" may have a wider definition. For example, is tranceiver included in "paging devices"?
Let me know how "paging devices" are.

ポケベル
As far as I know a pager is pager is pocket bell. 人間がするのであれば装置ではないでしょう I have not heard of anything other than a pocket bell being called a pager. A person that pages is called a "page," not a pager. Before there were pagers there were loudspeaker systems, but as far as I know, they were not called pagers, but loudspeaker systems, or Tannoy systems (after the famous American company).

Sorry I meant a ¥"paging device¥" is a ¥"pager¥"
I think it is a fancier way of saying the same thing. So, in Japanese a fancier way of saying ¥"pocket bell¥" is 無線呼び出し機器 無線呼び出し装置 but I would put ポケット・ベル in brackets.
Does anyone know of a paging device other than a pager? I think that in the abstract one could talk about one. As in ¥"He invented a paging device based on the use of carrier pigeons.¥" Hmm...In which case I would agree with the above.

Pager is a very broad term used through many centuries whereas a paging device is a product of our contemporary society that is highly technology-oriented.

Thanks. But, I think "paging device" is not limited to ポケットベル.
