Έστω, αλλά είμαστε βέβαιοι ότι εννοούν το ίδιο ακριβώς πράγμα; Γιατί εγώ βλέπω εδώ να χρησιμοποιούν το defaulted για να αποδώσουν τα «δάνεια σε αθέτηση»:

Αντίθετα, σε μια μελέτη της Black Rock για την Τράπεζα της Ελλάδος, defaulted και denounced χρησιμοποιούνται για να δηλώσουν διαφορετικά πράγματα.

Στην Ελλάδα όλοι οι ειδικοί του κλάδου, όταν απευθύνονται στους ξένους στα αγγλικά, τα λένε "denounced loans" και, για κάποιον λόγο που γνωρίζουν αυτοί καλύτερα, δεν τα λένε "terminated loans", που θα το καταλάβαινα σαν άλλη μια απόδοση του «καταγγελμένα». Αυτό μόνο λέω.

'.......πρόκειται για δάνεια για τα οποία έχει βγει διαταγή πληρωμής...'. Αν αυτό θέλεις τότε λέγεται, 'demanded loan/ demand for the loan', meaning the loan was in a number of unacceptable arrears and, common practice is for the Lender to demand the whole of the Balance of the loan. If the Lender gets NO response, then there is recourse to the Courts. IF, however, the recipient of the loan tells the Lender, 'I have no more money for you, I cannot pay you the Loan' then that is a DEFAULT case. The Lender can then issue proceedings, in the Court, to declare the recipient Bankrupt. The other case, which might not be relevant here, is for the Recipient to have a Self Voluntary Liquidation, and say to the Lender, 'I can pay you, say 10% of what I owe you, in full and final payment'. Take it or leave it. Defaulted Loans can be sold off to others who specialize in buying such loans, in the hope that they will, themselves, persuade the recipient to pay something towards his loan, which brings that buyer a profit.
This is the General/Normal practice in the UK, having in mind the British Financial/Banking System in the UK could/is different to the Greek comparable System.

What I find confusing in the wording "Καταγγελμένες Απαιτήσεις [Denounced Loans]" is that 'Απαιτήσεις' and 'Loans' are treated as synonyms, which they are not, unless I'm missing something.

Έχω δώσει δύο ορισμούς των καταγγελμένων δανείων από αρμόδιες αρχές. Να προσθέσω και μια τρίτη από την Τράπεζα της Ελλάδας:

Καταγγελμένες Απαιτήσεις [Denounced Loans]. Ως καταγγελμένες απαιτήσεις θεωρούνται τα δάνεια των οποίων η σύμβαση έχει καταγγελθεί από τον δανειοδότη και η καταγγελία αυτή έχει γνωστοποιηθεί στο δανειολήπτη. Η στήλη αυτή δεν συμπληρώνεται (εκτός από την κατηγορία «Εξασφαλίσεις») καθώς προκύπτει από το άθροισμα των τριών (3) υποκατηγοριών της κατηγορίας F που αναλύονται στη συνέχεια. Διευκρινίζεται ότι τα δάνεια για τα οποία έχει γίνει αίτηση για υπαγωγή σε πτωχευτική διαδικασία αλλά εκκρεμεί η τελεσίδικη δικαστική απόφαση θεωρούνται δάνεια «Χωρίς Υπαγωγή σε Πτωχευτική Διαδικασία».

What you are saying about 'default' is correct.
However, the word in question here is not 'defaulted loan' but 'καταγγελμένο δάνειο', which, to my way of thinking is different as it implies that legal proceedings have been taken to recover the loan. In other words you can have a defaulted loan that is not (yet) καταγγελμένο

'default' is the word you are looking for, I assure you. That's what we call it in the UK. If somebody cannot pay back their loan, we say 'he/she is in default' Period!

US or UK? Το κείμενο προορίζεται για Ην. Βασίλειο ή ΗΠΑ; Ή άλλη αγγλόφωνη χώρα; Το denounced και το terminated δεν νομίζω ότι θα ταίριαζαν, πρόκειται για δάνεια για τα οποία έχει βγει διαταγή πληρωμής/έχει ξεκινήσει δικαστική διαδικασία. Πολλοί όροι νομικοί μεταφράζονται αλλιώς σε αγγλικά ΗΠΑ και αλλιώς αγγλικά Ην. Βασιλείου (καμιά φορά υπάρχουν και διαφορές μεταξύ Αγγλίας ή Σκωτίας , π.χ. σε δικαστικά έγγραφα).
