Hi,

I'm working on a transportation agreement and could use some further insight/trans suggestions on the above terms. My researches mostly gave me hints such as "short-distance and long-distance traffic" but I'm not sure if that's it, after all. I figure these are terms specific to the German freight forwarding railway system and seem to not have an exact match in EN.

Some context:

Dieser Rahmentransportvertrag gilt für Transportaufträge sowohl im Fern- und Nahverkehr als auch für den Transport von Einweg und Mehrweg.
Für grenzüberschreitende Transporte innerhalb sowie außerhalb der Europäischen Union gelten zusätzlich zu diesem Vertrag die Allgemeine Deutsche Spediteurbedingungen (ADSp).

Michael That's fine, though Deborah is right to use transportation. The US has a Department of Transportation; the UK has a Department for Transport.

Definitely LOCAL and not short haul, for US English. Then there's inter-regional and long haul transport, too. depending on the distances or area in question.

I don't think they would use this in the UK, but if US English is acceptable, that might work.

Yeah I was inclined to think that transportation is for people and transport for goods but that's probably just me..
