Spanish term

origen de la propiedad

Spanish to English Social Sciences Government / Politics
This is from an ILO report on corporate social responsibility:

Las empresas, sin distinción del origen de su propiedad, también están atravesando una crisis, vinculada principalmente con la falta de confianza de los consumidores y de los ciudadanos.

"regardless of the who owns them"; "regardless of the source of their capital"?? It sounds quite specific, though

Thanks

If this answer is correct, the original text is a bit confusing because 'corporation' in itself is a form of ownership, at least in the US. But see the following:

https://www.irs.gov/businesses/small-businesses-self-employe...
The most common forms of business are the sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation, and S corporation. A Limited Liability Company (LLC) is a business structure allowed by state statute.

Thank you, Manuel!
agree AllegroTrans : I would say "Businesses, regardless of their form of ownership...."

Yes, I got mixed up. That's what the original says.

(regardless of) where it is based

El origen (de la propiedad) entiendo se refiere a su ubicación en este caso en particular; no matter where it is located, aunque referida a una empresa o corporación tal vez mejor no matter/regardless of where it is based.
Peer comment(s):

neutral AllegroTrans : I don't think this refers to location, "propiedad" almost certainly suggests the form of ownership

Entendido como "origen del capital" podría aludir a empresas de propiedad privada, pública o mixta. Dependerá, claro, del contexto. Gracias por la reflexión, Allegro.
