Combatant Commands
Voici quelques phrases en anglais dans lequel on retrouve le terme:
"Combatant Commands are responsible for geographic areas (such as European Command) or functional areas (such as Special Operations Command or U.S. Transportation Command)."

En revanche, la brochure très fouillée de l'Observatoire sur la politique de défense des États-Unis traduit bien le terme par commandements opérationnels, voir page 3. Je ferais confiance à ces spécialistes sans hésitation.

Autre approche possible : "commandement de composante de combat", terme de la terminologie officielle de l'OTAN pour "combatant command".

Tout dépend pour qui on traduit et quelle terminologie prévaut dans le reste du document. Si c'est pour un public plus large, non rompu à la terminologie militaire, j'en resterais probablement avec les commandements opérationnels pour éviter toute confusion avec des "unités combattantes".

: Traduction certes littérale mais mal construite en français par une simple juxtaposition sans préposition ni lien. @ Erwan, non, unifié n'y est pas, et d'ailleurs unified serait plutôt "interarmées" il me semble.
