German term

Len Masse

German to English Other Psychology Psychoanalysis, biology
Hi,

This is the entire sentence, for context:

"Bei der Zellteilung und Sprossung geht die periodisch einbrechende Sexualität mit einer Erhöhung der narzißtischen Libidospannung im Plasmakörper einher, die durch die Abstoßung eines Teiles der libidoerfüll Len Masse materiell abgeführt wird, nachdem der sehr wahrscheinliche Entlastungsversuch durch Bildung von Libidodepots an der Körperoberfläche oder in ihrer Nähe sich auf die Dauer nicht bewährt hat."

I'm specifically interested in the term "Len Masse", which I cannot seem to find any explanation for.
I assume that "Masse" has to do with matter (mass), but it seems like a reference (?) to something specific. Also, I'm not sure what "Len" means in this context. Any suggestions/references?

Discussion

Johannes Gleim Dec 29, 2019:
This is very plausible. libidoerfüllLen Masse

t => L
Thomas Pfann Dec 29, 2019:
der libidoerfüllten Masse It is a scan/OCR error. The correct text is "der libidoerfüllten Masse" (see also full article which is available online).
Omri Ofek Luzon (asker) Dec 29, 2019:
Hi Ramey.
This is how it appears in the original text, not a scan :/
Johannes Gleim Dec 29, 2019:
Is 'en' subscripted?
Ramey Rieger (X) Dec 29, 2019:
Hi Omri Is this a Word document taken from a pdf? A scanned doc? libidoerfüllenden Masse, perhaps?
Omri Ofek Luzon (asker) Dec 29, 2019:
I should have mentioned that this is from a psychoanalytical text published in the early 1920s, and the author uses examples from biological theories of the time. Therefore, it relates to the libido as a psychoanalytical concept that has to do with the psychical constructions he makes, not necessarily a scientific one.
philgoddard Dec 29, 2019:
It's something to do with "libidoerfüll", which is an incomplete word. I thought of libidoerfüllen or libidoerfüllenden, though neither makes much sense.

"Libidodepots an der Körperoberfläche"? It sounds wacky - is it some sort of made-up science?

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "I chose this comment because the term "charged" is the fitting one in terms of psychoanalysis (whereas "libido-rich" is inconsistent with the translations of Freud). "

Just a misprint

agree philgoddard : You mean ten Masse.

agree Adrian MM. : libidoerfüllten Masse - as in Prof. Sigmund F. and his worthy, but stonewalled disciple: Wilhelm Reich.

libido-rich component

Let's try this:

"Psychic energy (libido) flows from the libido-rich component to the libido-poor component in the same way that heat flows from hot to cold." https://books.google.com/books?id=DRkBPCyWGOsC&pg=PA63&lpg=P...
