Karen Marston (asker) May 26, 2020:
Thank you everyone, I had a feeling that this was a typo but I did not know what to look for so your expertise is most appreciated.
Lydia De Jorge May 25, 2020:
It could well be "hachas" as Toni mentions or something completely different as not all the tools mentioned are cutting tools. (chairas y afiladores). Your best bet would be to contact your client.
Toni Castano May 25, 2020:
Typo Probably "hachas", see here for example:

Cuchillos, chairas, hachas, guantes de malla, etc.
neilmac May 25, 2020:
@phil Well spotted! I'd guess that it refers to a "butcher knife" - I'm thinking of the larger type I just call a "chopper", or maybe a "whet/whetting/sharpening stone", although that would come under "afiladores". It's not in my technology dictionary, which usually has all sorts of recondite items.
philgoddard May 25, 2020:
It's not in Reverso or DRAE. Could it be a typo? And is the similarity to "butcher" coincidental?

butchering/butcher´s cutlery

Note from asker:
I am sorry I incorrectly selected your answer when I meant to select the other one. I have been told that the only way to rectify this is if you agree to submit a support request asking for the answer to be ungraded. I apologise for this, my only explanation is that I am homeschooling my children and was distracted. I will leave it to you to decide.

(butcher's) cleaver

Total guess here:
A cleaver is a large knife that varies in its shape but usually resembles a rectangular-bladed hatchet. It is largely used as a kitchen or butcher knife intended for hacking through bone.

I have one at home, and I just call it a chopper, but cleaver is the proper name for it.
So, the source sentence could be "...cutting tools such as knives, honing steels, cleavers and sharpeners ..."

As Phil has already said "bauchas" is probably an error and does not exist in the DRAE.

Translate "honing steel" to Spanish: chaira
English Synonyms of "honing steel": butcher's steel, chef's steel, sharpening rod, sharpening steel, sharpening stick

The only thing I can think of, given your context of "knives, sharpening rods (or whatever term you've settled on), "bauchas" (sic), ... are types of: choppers (cleavers) / handsaws / hooks

Good call, I believe. You've hit the nail on the head! https://tureng.com/en/spanish-english/hacha (axe, hatchet, chopper, cleaver).
