Serbian term

Planinski predeo užih razmera

Serbian to English Art/Literary Poetry & Literature
Poštovani, kada se prevodi složenica "Planinski predeo užih razmera", koristio sam termine "Small-scale the mountainous region", zatim, "The mountainous region on narrower measure". Da li je nešto od toga prihvatljivo, ili imate neki drugi predlog? Hvala.
Proposed translations (English)

Discussion

Ninoslav Matijevic (asker) Jun 18, 2020:
Thank you for a longer and substancial answer. The sentence only refers to a description of nature and climate.
Daryo Jun 18, 2020:
None of the above would make much sense in English.

As a point of method / good practice, you should quote the whole sentence where this term was used, as even in Serbian "planinski predeo užih razmera" without any more context sounds strange.

By implication there should them also be something called "planinski predeo širih razmera", which doesn't make much more sense.

Any more usable context?

narrow mountain ridge

A ridge or a mountain ridge is a geographical feature consisting of a chain of mountains or hills that form a continuous elevated crest for some distance. The sides of the ridge slope away from narrow top on either side. ... Ridges are usually termed hills or mountains as well, depending on size.
Example sentence:

Clearly any attempt on a narrow mountain ridge in winter should only be contemplated if you have the appropriate equipment and sufficient experience, or are with someone with such experience to assist you.

Peer comment(s):
