In the context of US education, it's often called something like 'after-school activities' or 'after-school programs.' In relation to my previous comment about the somewhat early time, that could be a function of culture, too, with the possibility their day starts a bit earlier perhaps than might be customary in the West.

Context: "stay-back activities" in India?? This would appear to be part of Indian English (as gleaned from Maria's Candelaria Turri's reference). It would be interesting to hear from those in India or the UK. To my native-speaker ears from the United States, where it's simply not used, it sounds very odd. In Maria's reference, they also use it as a two-word verb, e.g., '... will be staying back.' And in that same reference, it begins at around 2pm, which makes me wonder about the regular hours of their school day, and whether this is really equivalent to 'staying' for 'after-school' activities, or if this might be a little different.

Por aquí (España) diríamos en general "extraescolares después de clase". Aunque realmente el original suele aludir más específicamente (en el contexto de una escuela) a actividades complementarias impartidas justo a continuación de las clases regulares.
