Italian term

lesione secondaria

Italian to English Medical Medical (general) Pelvic MRI
From an MRI test report on a patient with lung cancer and bone metastases.

"L'attuale indagine permette di confermare la presenza di lesione sostitutiva litica che interessa il profilo posteriore-inferiore dell'acetabolo di sinistra, che risulta compatibile con lesione secondaria."

It's my understanding that in this particular context, both "lesione sostitutiva" and "lesione secondaria" are referring to metastases. If so, the second part of the sentence would seem to be a repetition of the first, so to speak.

If anyone could confirm and help with the wording of the second part, I would be very grateful.

Many thanks!

yes, but perhaps not really a repetition as they're confirming the osteolytic lesion (probably previously seen on x-ray) and saying that it's consistent with a metastasis
