Israel uses a registration system left over from the Ottoman Turks for registering property and land. The original Turkish name for the system was Tapu. Arabs who have trouble pronouncing a P sound began to refer to it as the Tabu. A נסח טאבו is a document from the Tabu office showing property ownership.
