Ich übersetze einen Gesprächsleitfaden zum Thema Impfstoffe. Er deckt enorm viele Themen ab, ist im Telegrammstil verfasst und für viele Länder konzipiert.
Die Begriffe "public" und "private" kommen dreimal vor (weitere Informationen habe ich nicht):
Who receive public vs. private vaccines (national immunization program listed vaccines, etc.)
How do you approach public vs. private vaccines? (National Immunization Program in Japan, etc.)
What, if any, role does the type of insurance a patient has impact the choices here (e.g., public vs private, reimbursed, etc.)?
Der dritte Fall ist klar. Aber für die beiden ersten bin ich mir nicht ganz sicher. Ist hier wohl gemeint: Impfstoffe, die von der staatlichen Krankenkasse erstattet werden, versus Impfstoffe, die nur von Privatkassen erstattet werden?
Oder geht es eher um obligatorische und freiwillige Impfungen? Das wäre dann in Deutschland allerdings so weit ich weiß nicht relevant, da es keine Impfpflicht gibt. Aber da der Fragebogen für mehrere Länder konzipiert ist, könnte das auch eine Möglichkeit sein. Was meint Ihr?

What is the difference between the Government schedule and the Private schedule?
Every country has an EPI schedule (Expanded Programme for Immunisation). Each country’s EPI schedule will be slightly different depending on what diseases are prevalent. The schedule usually covers the severe illnesses that can afflict the majority of the population or those that can be fatal.
South Africa has an EPI that everyone should follow. There are however some vaccines not on the national EPI, that can be purchased privately should you wish to supplement the current government schedule.
These include:
Hepatitis A. This is a travel and baby clinic vaccine. It is not on the government schedule but worth giving as we do still see outbreaks of Hepatitis A.
Chickenpox. This is not a fatal disease which is why it excluded from the EPI schedule. It is however recommended as it could prevent shingles later on in life as well as preventing scratching and scarring should a baby acquire chickenpox.
MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella). Government schedule only covers measles as it is the most important and it can be fatal. Mumps and German Measles are however recommended. Mumps, especially for boys, is important as a severe case of mumps could cause sterility. Rubella ( also known as German Measles) is very important for girls as contracting Rubella when pregnant can affect the unborn baby).
Menactra – Meningococcal Meningitis. Although not yet on the EPI, it will most likely be included in the future. It is also relatively new on the private schedule but well worth for protecting your baby against meningitis.

Wenn man nach "private vaccine" sucht, bekommt man viele Seiten wie die oben zitierte vorgeschlagen. Der Unterschied zwischen public und private dürfte also wohl darin liegen, dass die "public" Impfungen von Staats wegen für alle empfohlen bzw., je nach Land, verpflichtend sind und die "private" Impfungen aus individuellen Erwägungen heraus nur bei bestimmten Menschen durchgeführt werden. In Deutschland ist dieser Unterschied gleichbedeutend mit "wird von der (gesetzlichen) Krankenkasse erstattet", oder eben nicht.

Ich werde die Frage jetzt schließen. Nochmals vielen Dank.
Petra: Das passt hier glaube ich nicht, denn die Frage an den Arzt lautet ja: "Wer (d. h. welche Patienten) erhält "public" vs "private" Impfstoffe
Ulrike: Ich glaube nicht, dass es für den Arzt wichtig ist, wer die Impfstoffe einführt.
Ich tendiere wie gesagt zu Annes Erklärung und habe jetzt geschrieben: public vaccines = vom Staat empfohlene/vorgeschriebene Impfstoffe und private vaccines = individuell gewünschte Impfstoffe. Ich werde aber vorsichtshalber eine Anmerkung machen.
