Je pense qu'une traduction littérale "changement de profondeur" convient. Pourriez-vous me le confirmer ? Merci d'avance.
If a large number of defects occur close together, it is favourable to combine these to form fewer defects of greater length.
This is achieved by defining a minimum defect distance (see parameter Min.Defect.Distance [Eval]).
If the gap between two events is smaller than the minimum distance, the gap is filled and one long defect results.
This is especially useful for testing with encircling differential coils.
Due to the differential structure long defects generate just small signals at every change of depth.

Je suggère "variation" plutôt que "changement" qui évoque une différence d'échelle de mesure alors que "variation" évoque plutôt une évolution progressive plus ou moins rapide.
