Je pense que clunky dans ce contexte veut dire "solid, heavy, and old-fashioned", donc un modèle d'engin probablement obsolète (old-fashioned), mais par forcément une épave ou une carcasse (en mauvais état) qui est une surtraduction d'après moi. Je pense que le "old" ici est la version informelle du mot (Dictionnaire : informal, used to express affection, familiarity, or contempt, eg good old mum). Il faudra le rendre en rajoutant l'adjectif "bon" en français
