Spanish to English Law/Patents Law (general) Birth Certificate
Hello everyone,

I'm working on a birth certificate from El Salvador and I have a cluster of abbreviations that I'm having trouble understanding. Below is the text for context:

"...La cual será agregada al legajo respectivo, se pone dicho asiento así: El Infrascrito alcalde Municipal de esta Villa, Certifica que a la fs 9f vlto y 98 frte del Libro de Partidas de Nacimientos que esta Alcaldía llevó en el año 1965, se encuentra la que literalmente dice: Partida Número Trescientos treinta y seis..."

I've pieced together this a translation with different kudos articles as: "...certifies that on the back of page 9 and front of page 98 of the book of Birth Certificates..."

I'm not sure about "9f" though. I wonder if it's a typo because there is a huge gap between page 9 and 98

Me parece haberlo visto "page" en el diccionario de West, pero la explicación de Charles tiene mucho sentido, así que voy a copiarla para no volver a meter la pata. @Yvonne Actually, not "page" but "folio". Charles Davis explained it better here:

""Page 34 verso" (verso is the English equivalent of vuelta) is nonsensical; a page doesn't have a reverse side.
...
If you want to use different terms in English for "foja" and "folio", the alternative for "foja" is "sheet". You can certainly translate this as "sheet 1" if you wish, though there really isn't any need. But definitely not "page". For that matter, a lot of people translate "folio" (ES) as "page" (EN), but just because an error is widely approved and repeated doesn't make it right."

And for the asker, here's another entry of his, with respect to "frente" and "vuelta":
""vuelta" or "vuelto" means the reverse side of the sheet (as FVS says in the discussion area). The standard English equivalent in references is "verso" (the front of the sheet is called "recto"). Foliation involves numbering each sheet (on the front side), rather than each page."

It's not OCR—it's a direct scan of the page, but I do think it could be a 7. That's a good guess!

So, it sounds like it's correct to say: "Back of page 97, front of page 98," right?
