Italian term

Territorio

Italian to English Marketing Advertising / Public Relations
buongiorno, come tradurreste la parola territorio in questo contesto:

“ Azienda e territorio una fusione perfetta
Rispettiamo la nostra terra mantenendo inalterate le nostre caratteristiche: affidabilità, precisione, flessibilità"

Meglio Land o territory?
Our comapny and our land a perfect fusion
oppure
Company and territory a perfect fusion ( questa versione non mi piace affatto)
Che ne pensano i madrelingua?
grazie
Elisabetta

Discussion

Tom in London Nov 22, 2021:
@ Phil the idea of "territorio" here is not "environment". It's the geographical area in which the company operates.
Fiona Grace Peterson Nov 22, 2021:
Many thanks Elisabetta That's really helpful :-)
Tom in London Nov 22, 2021:
Fusion so "fusion" is the correct word. The original text is playing with the metallurgical associations of "fusion" as well as (possibly) the culinary suggestions.
ElisabettaC (asker) Nov 22, 2021:
sorry for not having specified the context.
We produce die casting components in aluminium alloy. The sentence is to be placed on the wall of a stand at a trade show. We are obtaining the enviromental certification 14001 and I would like to connect the respect for our territory and our company. During the trade show we will show our aluminium components and we will have a small bottle of olive oil (of course produced close to us) as gadget. Maybe is territory the right choice?
In the meantime I'm checking the glossary entries.
thanks a lot
Elisabetta
Fiona Grace Peterson Nov 22, 2021:
@Lara Of the 134 glossary entries for "territorio", I'm sure the asker will find something suitable. Of course a literal translation may not be appropriate. Let's see what she says if she gets back to us.
Lara Barnett Nov 22, 2021:
Context The thing is that without context we do not know if the current Kudoz glossary holds the required term. Before attempting, or judging, a translation, I would need to know exactly why the so called "fusion" of the business and the area/place/locality (or whatever) are so perfect together. It could be that a literal translation is not the best here.

Confermo quanto scritto da Fiona ...
Lara Barnett Nov 22, 2021:
@ Elisabetta Can you give more context behind this company, and also what it does exactly? This could actually mean one of many things in English, and finding the best translation could also impact on entire phrasing of the sentence.
Fiona Grace Peterson Nov 22, 2021:
Controlla anche i KudoZ precedenti Il termine è già stato chiesto tante volte. Sono sicura che troverai qualcosa lì.
Fiona Grace Peterson Nov 22, 2021:
What does the company sell? What does the company sell?

I don't think this is a perfect solution, but it may inspire you! "Territorio" is always tricky, because it encompasses so many aspects - geography, culture, history.
You could also go directly with "environment", but again that doesn't really capture the essence of the Italian term.

"And if we have got it wrong, and there is no danger in what have we done except make our business and our surroundings more sustainable," he added with a shrug and a quizzical raise of an eyebrow."

Our business and our locality: a perfect fusion

Try this. AND DON'T ELIMINATE THE COLON!

agree Rosanna Palermo : also region or area in alternative to locality.

Italian term (edited): Azienda e territorio una fusione perfetta

Our business: a perfect fit in its local context

Or in its local surroundings

We are ideally situated/located for your needs,

I think you need to restructure.

Or maybe even, "Our placement in the area is ideal in terms of....."
