Spanish term

de su embebido

Spanish to English Other Cooking / Culinary Restaurant menu
"Torrija con helado de su embebido"

This term is included in the desserts section of a restaurant menu. I understand this to mean that the ice cream is made using the liquid used to soak the torrija. However, I'm not sure how to best translate this into English without omitting the idea of "de su embebido" (Torrija served with ice cream) or rendering the dish clunky (Torrija served with ice cream made from milk, sugar and honey). Any suggestions would be warmly welcomed!

For context:
Source language: Spanish (Spain)
Target language English (UK)
Hotel type: fine dining
This particular torrija is soaked in milk, sugar and honey

A recipe of french toast ice cream.

I know. I wish I could try this company's ice cream again. It was at an event. I have never seen them again.

Thanks for your help here, Simone! It's got me feeling hungry now too :')

It is not the French toast that is infused with ice cream. The ice cream is made from the French toast's batter, the liquid made to infuse it. This was a common practice in the past. Nothing was thrown away. All marinades, cooking oils, batters, juices, everything was saved and used. There is a great revival at the moment of such ice creams. Look for the company that makes vintage ice creams with flavours such as cucumber, toast, orange blossom. It is called Ruby Violet.

milk and honey infused torrija, infusion ice cream

It is a difficult one.
I skipped the sugar because it sounds better without.
I wonder if you could say ¨complementary/matching infusion ice cream¨.
Just a suggestion, hope it helps!!!
Note from asker:
Thanks for your help, Cecilia. I really like the idea of using "infusion"!

from its batter

French toast (or if you choose to leave torrija, depends on the briefing) with ice cream crafted from its batter.

What is French toast batter made of?
Is there nothing better than French toast for Sunday breakfast? Thick slices of bread, soaked in a mixture of beaten eggs with milk and cinnamon, toasted in a frying pan, and served with butter and maple syrup.

Peer comment(s):

neutral Andrew Bramhall : How is ice cream "crafted from its batter"?// Right, thanks for that, I didn't know, but it sounds delicioius;

From the French toast batter. I have made it before. You use the batter infused with rum and spices to craft an ice cream in the ice cream machine. Tastes a bit like rum and raisins.
neutral Cecilia Gowar : Torrijas are not made with batter. The bread is soaked in milk (sometimes infused, mixed with liquors, etc) and then dipped in egg and fried.

The example I copied above from a recipe calls it batter.
disagree monica murphy : I wouldn’t call it batter… doesn’t sound right. Its more an infusion of aromatics like lemon peel and vanilla , dipped in egg afterwards.

impregnated

French toast impregnated with ice cream.

neutral Simone Taylor : It is not the French toast that is soaked in the ice cream but the ice cream that is made from the liquid that made the toast, call it batter or not..

Torrija with its aromatic milk ice cream

Very difficult to convey without, as said, sounding clunky,
Peer comment(s):

disagree Simone Taylor : It doesn't convey the idea the ice cream is made from the liquid used for making the Torrija.

Well I think it does

agree Simone Taylor : Again you are mentioning batter. Two recipes using the word batter as the liquid that is used for making the French toast.

Yep. I think it because there are many variations. I just posted another reference alluding to "Crusty bread dipped in Sweet Milk Batter, Fried Golden Brown"; may be a little long-winded. LOL.
