Discussion

neilmac Aug 10, 2022:
Applicant I suppose "applicant" might work at a stretch, but the source text looks a bit sloppy to begin with.
Paul Ryan Aug 10, 2022:
You would need to look at the explanation at the beginning of the document to determine the exact role of the company/firm, but it is surely either the Applicant or the Appelant
neilmac Aug 10, 2022:
My take It may just mean "recurring signature" in the context provided. "Appelant" doesn't seem to fit here.
Anabell Lucero (asker) Aug 10, 2022:
Seth Phillips Aug 10, 2022:
Further context, other details in the certificate? Recurrente means the entity appealing (to the higher court) or challenging (the same court, in a recurso de reposición or similiar procedure).

This is not to say that "appellant company" isn't what you're looking for, just to provide an alternative option. No doubt it also depends on the broader context.

I've seen glossaries that translate "petitioner" as "peticionario, recurrente, demandante, apelante, solicitante, suplicante" (See, for example, https://www.ncsc.org/__data/assets/pdf_file/0017/19430/georg...

Note that I work with business-related docs but don't touch legal translation, so please take this suggestion with a grain of salt. :)
Example sentence:

"Make a determination based on [...] as soon as possible after the petitioning Firm [...] has submitted all requested material."

"By mutual agreement between the petitioning company and the commissioner, the time frame set forth in this section may be modified, changed, or extended."

Peer comment(s):

neutral Seth Phillips : Too broad. Recurrir means to appeal to a higher court or to challenge the same court. Recurrente is a type of demandante.

neutral neilmac : I think "applicant" works better than "petitioning" if all they are doing is applying for a "constancia de habilitación de establecimiento".... And they would only be "appellant" if they were appealing a decision, no?
