Hi, I'd like to verify this translation. I'm thinking "vent the blood kit" or "bleed the blood kit" (unless bloedtrousse is blood trough). It is used as follows in the procedure instructions:

Cultuurschaaltje met iso-betadine vullen. Steriele handschoenen aantrekken. Bloedtrousse ontluchten: draai het kraantje toe

draai de kraan terug toe en leg het zakje met daaraan de bloedtrousse aan de zijkant op het steriel veld

Steriele handschoenen aantrekken en bloedtrousse ontluchten met een 100 ml-zakje 0,9% Na Cl en de trousse er laten aanhangen.

@ Hi D. I posted two added notes about priming and now I notice there is only one on this page.
Have you received the other note as well?


The first note was something along the lines of:

'ontluchten' can also mean 'primen' here.
(by the way, instead of 'primen', Dutch also uses 'voorvullen')

That is, filling the line with blood before connecting it (to a cannula in a vein of the patient in most cases).
(To avoid air embolism [all air should be expelled from the line]).

Please check what is most appropriate in your context.

yes I think it means removing all excess air, prior to sealing sterilization of the instrument pouch.

EC = erytrocytenconcentraat

trousse = leiding

Een EC wordt toegediend met een standaard transfusieleiding over 2 tot 4 uur (maximaal 6 uur). De standaard transfusietrousse is vergelijkbaar met een infusieleiding, maar is voorzien van een filterkamer (macrofilter) om macroaggregaten die groter zijn dan 170 à 200 micron tegen te houden. Het gebruik van deze bloedfilter is wettelijk verplicht omdat bij het bewaren van bloed aggregaten ontstaan. Vanaf de vijfde dag stijgt hun aantal sterk.
