Spanish term

A casetón perdido

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering
I'm struggling with "how to translate a casetón perdido" to English, as part of the phrase "forjados reticulares a casetón perdido". "Forjados reticulares" appears to be "waffle slabs" but the rest is confusing me.

This is for a project about a residential complex, and the full sentence is as follows:

La estructura horizontal y de cubierta se resuelve mediante vigas planas, para facilitar su ejecución y evitar resaltos en los techos de las viviendas, y forjados reticulares a casetón perdido con bovedillas aligerantes de hormigón.

Thanks in advance

waffle slabs / diagrid floors -> rib-and-block suspended floors with temporary structures formwork

As a Swedish engineer once commented to me in a boarding house on a Porto Pi hillside outise Palma de Majorca: 'I'm surprised more Spanish hotels don't collapse as most of them are built without any foundations.'
Example sentence:

El sistema utilizado fue el encofrado recuperable de casetón perdido Alucubetas alsina.es An Alucubetas temporary formwork system with permanent coffers was used

Caissons are permanent structures found in the initial design construction, whereas cofferdams are temporary structures > Pile foundation construction method using temporary cofferdam caisson of improved for weakness ground

Peer comment(s):

neutral Andrew Bramhall : Don't see how these structures are only temporary;

neutral Elizabeth Joy Pitt de Morales : The formwork (encofrado) was temporary (recuperable); the coffer (casetón) was permanent (perdido/no recuperado).

[using] lost waffle pods

This refers to the formwork used to build the waffle slab. The most commonly used waffle pods are reusable, but you can find some in the market that are left in the concrete.

neutral Andrew Bramhall : It's not "lost" but 'hidden';

(with/using) a permanent coffer

Found in the ES and EN Alsina catalogues:

ES: "Sistema de encofrado recuperable para realizar forjados reticulares con casetón perdido, forjados unidireccionales y losas macizas."
https://www.alsina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/catalogo-a...

EN: "Re-usable formwork system for making waffle slabs with permanent coffer, one-way concrete beams and solid slabs."

Peer comment(s):

disagree Andrew Bramhall : 'perdido' no es 'permanente', 'casetón' no es 'coffer' en este contexto;

The company Alsina, which specializes in this field, seems pretty clear, and I think the context is correct. Thank you for your thoughts.
