German to English Law/Patents Law (general)
I am translating a German court case and have come across an unfamiliar abbreviation: Gr.

Here is the context:
§§ 211 Abs. 1, Abs. 2 1. Gr. 1. Var., 223 StGB

Any ideas what Gr. stands for?

But if you want to leave this bit in German, I recommend that, at the very least, you bring it in line with the examples posted by Tomasso and me, e.g., you get rid of the ordinal numbers; the format used here makes things needlessly confusing (even in German).

If this is a reference/footnote in your text, it may be appropriate to leave it in German - it may be difficult for a reader to look up the reference if confronted with a translation. Consider.

PS The point of these "Fallgruppen" is to help specify what counts as [voluntary] manslaughter [that is, Totschlag] and what doesn't. E.g.:

"Ist ein bestimmtes Mordmerkmal im Sinne von § 211 Abs. 2 StGB gegeben, wird die Tötung zum Mord. Diese Merkmale versucht das Gesetz durch drei Fallgruppen zu konkretisieren:

Gruppe 1 (mordqualifizierende Beweggründe): Mordlust, Befriedigung des Geschlechtstriebes, Habgier oder sonstige niedrige Beweggründe

Some may call them "aggravating circumstances," but that's not really apt, IMO. Here is a CA paper discussing Mord and Totschlag. It reads:
"Totschlag (StGB §212) is the German version of manslaughter. It is defined as the killing of 'a human being under circumstances not constituting murder... .'"

Nach der h.L. ist Mord hingegen als Qualifikation zum Totschlag ausgestaltet. Letzteres
überzeugt, da ein Mord denknotwendig die Verwirklichung eines Totschlags voraussetzt und
die Anwendung von § 28 II StGB zu kriminalpolitisch „gerechteren“ Ergebnissen führt. Demzufolge kann aufgrund der Anwendung von § 28
