mansuba saaz

or mansubah saaz

seems the most appropriate in context : literal meaning = 'planner'

Let me elucidate (for Naseeruddin):
\'He was the master mind behind the murders\' means:

\'He planned the murders\', and NOT
\'He was the genius behind the murders\'

If dictionaries were horses, CAT users would ride!

agree pucoug (X) : yup! I agree with nlingua on this. 'Master mind' is a cool word but 'planner' would work too.

thank you!
agree Naseeruddin (X) : Yes, it can be too in some conditions. My answer does not mean 'Genius'. I would have picked "Mahirana Zihan". In any case, you used a good option - just option. :)

disagree Shahab Arif : Mr Naseeruddin you have only given the actual meaning of the word master Mind. But the context which it is used here is ""Woh is katal ka sur ghana tha"

Well...this is your opinion and I do not agree. The terms I posted can be used perfectly. Please see Firoz-ul-lughat and Qaumi English-Urdu dictionary for reference.
