small sentence

English to Hindi Other Other
She said she preferred to live in X (Name of city) than Y (Name of city) from where they had come.

It is a pretty easy and straightforward sentence but despite my best efforts, I've been unable to translate it in a flowing and natural manner according to the syntax of Hindi.

How would you translate the same without jeopardizing the natural flow so that it may feel as if it was drafted originally in Hindi itself.

Thanks in anticipation.

us ne kaha ke use X main rehna pasand hai na ke Y main, jahan se vs aye the

It follows the Hindi style of writing or speech and to retain this, translates the original sentence in a free manner. For example, 'rather' has been translated through the use of 'na ke'.

agree Anil Goyal : Agree. "..ki bajaye.." can also be used instead of "...ke mukable.." in Rishi's suggestion.

She said she preferred to live in X (Name of city) than Y (Name of city) from where they had come.

Usnaey kuhaa kaey wuh Y kaey bujaayaey X mein ruhnaa pusund kuraeygee, haalaankee waey loag Y saey aayaey hayen.

उसने कहा के वह Y के बजाय X में रहना पसंद करेगी, हालाँकि वे लोग Y से आए हैं.

OR

Usnaey kuhaa kaey wuh Y kaey bujaayaey X mein ruhnaa pusund kuraeygee.

उसने कहा के वह Y के बजाय X में रहना पसंद करेगी.

In the second sentence, I have lopped off the phrase "from where they had come".

Hth,

Sanjay.
