I have just had "Vorsatz-" yesterday, but in a different context and it referred to a device attached on the front. I am not sure if it fits here, but another entry in Ernst seems to confirm this.

I didn't mean it had anything to do with optics, I just qouted the dico entry to show that it is translated similarly in other contexts, too (my context was Steinformen)
