infant school or kindergarden
nursery school is before 'real' school. in france and spain kids start school at 3 (when British kids are at nursery school). Using 'infant' makes the distinction.

Playschool or playgroup
Also known as playschool or playgroup. Children in Britain go either in the mornings or in the afternoons, 2-3 or the 5 days a week, before starting school properly. It's supposed to get children used to the idea of school.
