German term

Hodenhülle

May offend German to English Medical Medical (general) Hodenkrebs

Discussion

Steffen Walter Nov 4, 2004:
I don't care at all about the points - give them to Richard (he seems to have been a bit quicker at the outset).
Richard Benham Nov 4, 2004:
Thanks for the compliment! The main thing is, of course, that you got the right answer to your question.
Non-ProZ.com Nov 4, 2004:
sorry Richard, I had missed your note... my appologies!!! and you are a genius too of course :-)
Richard Benham Nov 4, 2004:
I don't want to detract from Steffen's efforts, but I think I beat him to the "tunica testis" suggestion in a note. But he found the convincing references, of course!
Non-ProZ.com Nov 4, 2004:
Steffen, you are a genious... I was just about to loose my mind with all the options and was looking for just what you found...the general term. Would you be so kind and enter it as an answer for grading :-)
Steffen Walter Nov 4, 2004:
Google-Treffer:
Tunica ...

Richard Benham Nov 4, 2004:
I think Steffen is right. "Testicular tunic" is another possibility.
Steffen Walter Nov 4, 2004:
Quelle: Reuter, WB Humanbiologie
Richard Benham Nov 4, 2004:
Sorry; I thought you were sure about the Latin. Maybe try "tunica testis". I'll google it.

German term (edited): Hodenhlle
Selected

tunica albuginea testis

I don't have my Gray's anatomy handy, but, unless you get a better suggestion, the Latin will probably be understood.

\"tunica testis\" seems to be the term.

agree Steffen Walter : Dorlands confirms - http://www.mercksource.com/pp/us/cns/cns_hl_dorlands.jspzQzp... (mentioning also 'tunic of testis' under the entry 'adenomatoid tumor').

neutral Richard Benham : One also sees "tunica testis vaginalis"==but I am not sure the "vaginal" adds much.

I admit I may be wrong about the actual term. The link I posted still seems a pretty good source for the asker to check.
