German term

Schleicher

German to English Art/Literary Music
A music review (soul) - The sentence reads "Erdige Grooves, sehr delikate Discosoul-Schleicher, exzellent zusammengestellt von DJ xx".
In the Internet we found "... ist meine Wahl, ein Schleicher, der sich unaufdringlich bemerkbar macht, langsam das Ohr fordert, sich in die Seele frißt." as a definition for Schleicher.
What would you say in the UK or US? Thank you.

slow burner

A "slow burner" is the term usually given to a song which gradually grows on you. Perhaps this might be a good option here?

\"\'So What\' is what I usually refer to as a \'slow-burner\', an intricate track that unfolds gradually rather than blast itself in your face like \'Thieves\' does, featuring another Connelly vocal, a cut which stands as one of the his more noteworthy musical achievements.\"

grinder

As in grinding rhythm

http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/bluessoulreggae/reviews/artvari_m...

The principles of funk are some of the most fundamental in music; simple riffs and rhythms intertwine around the downbeat, creating a sound that is impossible to resist. One of the greatest examples of this is "Mr Machine" by The Chefs; its simplicity is its charm. That particular piece of class is followed by the mid-tempo grinder "Soulful Proclamation" by Messengers Incorporated. Soul vocals slip between greasy Hammond organ stabs and blaring horns...wonderful stuff!

a song/record that creeps up on you

This would be an alternative to Ian's suggestion. Don't think it would work as a noun (creeper?).

It's a song that isn't as obvious or in your face as some of their later material. It's a song that creeps up on you then never leaves.

This is one of those slow burn movies that creeps up on you and gradually pulls you in. http://dvd.lastminute.com/reviews.php?ac_nickname=Ganton

Peer comment(s):

disagree Francis Lee (X) : this is a description (albeit an accurate one); the Asker needs a specific term

agree Anne Schulz : I don't think that "creeper" wouldn't work. "Schleicher" is not a common noun either, but derived from a verb for this purpose, and I think it mostly refers to the type of movement which people perform in the disco (slow, sleek, maybe even "creepy").

(subtle) up-beat soul tracks

I suspect that the tracks concerned MAY not necessarily be "Schleicher" and that the author merely used the word to pep it up (as they often do). "Discosoul-Ohrwürme", for example, doesn't sound as good.

Could even be "catchy" ...

But PLEASE do not write "disco soul"!
