Non-PRO Ukrainian to English Law/Patents Food & Drink food regulations
Маркування нефасованих харчових продуктiв

Unpackaged? This is my guess. I'd like to be sure.

Thanks.
Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

PRO (1): Larissa Dinsley

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Discussion

Non-ProZ.com Dec 22, 2004:
to Vladimir Loose (unpackaged) goods can be marked if they're individual fruit (oranges, bananas etc.) with stickers on them, for example - but I suppose "food products" does not include fresh fruit.

I'm trying to judge this partly by the way the word is used - though I don't have any very detailed info on that either. Is the defining feature of the fact that it's packaging for a defined (weighed) quantity - and is it exclusively for retail sale?

But how to do for 'loose'? By a 'loose marker' :-)))
Non-ProZ.com Dec 22, 2004:
loose, bulk... Thank you for the answers - each has its merits. "Loose" is one of the options I was considering - i.e. loose in the sense of not packaged at all.

Sorry for the typo, the correct spelling should be ***non-prepacked***.

Dylan, you are right about it:
\"Is the defining feature of фасовка the fact that it\'s packaging for a defined (weighed) quantity - and is it exclusively for retail sale?\" Perhaps, one can use \"individually pre-packed\" for фасованый.

In Ukraine, you can also buy products by weight from a special counter: sugar, sausages, cheese - you name it. And I guess, that labelling will be put on larger packaging they are supplied to a shop in.

in bulk pakages

1. Unpackaged product CANNOT have any marking (Маркування)

2. What is нефасований ? - by way of example:

фасований цукор (sugar) is sugar packed in 1 kg, 0.5 kg, or smaller packages

НЕфасований цукор is sugar packed in 50 kg bags

That's the difference !
