German term

Kaffeekuchen

German to English Tech/Engineering Automation & Robotics Kaffeevollautomaten
Tresterbehälter, 15-20 Kaffeekuchen, kann ohne Öffnen der Tür entnommen werden

It is obvious what is meant, but does anyone have a bright idea how to name this baby?

Discussion

Non-ProZ.com Mar 17, 2005:
SwissTell: I dont think that actual cakes are meant here. It is the left over coffee grounds after the water has gone through the machine and they look like cakes because of the shape of the filter (that is how I understand it anyway, but maybe someone can convince me otherwise)

Coffee grounds (15-20 portions)

Using my 4-language instruction manual for my Jura (Swiss) coffee machine as a guide, they use "coffee grounds" in English and "Kaffeesatz" in German (marc in French, by the way). Tresterbehälter is the German for "grounds container" (also used by Jura)so I am reasonably convinced that Kaffeekuchen isn't in this text a nice piece of cake.

agree Terry Gilman : I think the point is the number of portions that the container can hold between cleanings; the shape is irrelevant
