@Ludina & Arabic &More Thank you so much!
Arabic & More Feb 9, 2022:
@Ludina It is definitely wise to write out the names of the months...and this is especially true for the Hijri months since their order is unfamiliar to many people.
Ludina Sallam Feb 8, 2022:
I find that it is wise to write out the names of the months. Otherwise, there may be confusion due to the fact the month/day are written in opposite directions in Arabic and English.

agree Ludina Sallam : For example: 10 Jumada al-Ula 1412 (Hijri calendar)/November 16, 1991 (Gregorian calendar), you can go to "Islamic calendar converter" in Google to find the corresponding date for either calendar.

I prefer this way (16/11/1991G) and (15/10/1444H)

AH and CE

I agree that these are Hijri and Gregorian dates, but for academic works in particular, I would use the abbreviations AH (anno Hegirae) and CE (common era).

14 Rajab 1398 AH (June 20, 1978 CE)

However, you don't necessarily need to include CE for a more recent year like 1978, especially if it is obvious in the text which time period it refers to.
